Sarawak PKR wanita chief Ibi anak Uding slammed Snowdan Lawan, the state assemblyman for Balai Ringin, for behaving like a gangster and attempting to sabotage her function at Kampung Ensebang Kuari, Balai Ringin yesterday.

Ibi had earlier applied for a police permit to organise the function in conjunction with the visit of PKR supreme council member Zaid Ibrahim to the village.

She had also applied for the use of the village community hall and approval was given by tuai rumah (village chief) Saimi Ribol.

But on Saturday, Ibi was told by the longhouse chief that she could not use the hall as it would be used by Snowdan to organize a day-time concert with two Iban popular singers.

Ibi moved the function to an adjacent house. She had to borrow some 200 chairs from various people at the longhouse.

When Zaid was about to deliver a speech, Snowdan’s Iban singers began to sing. However, they were advised by the police to hold on first.

According to Ibi, Snowdan ordered some 50 village headmen to attend his concert, while some 300 people listened to Zaid’s speech.

“This behaviour is disgusting and the behaviour of a gangster,” alleged Ibi, who is a potential candidate to challenge Snowdan for the coming state election.

“He has failed to help the people of Balai Ringin constituency since he was elected in 2006.

“In order to attract a crowd, he has to resort to use Iban singers, and he has to bribe them to support him,” she said, pointing out that type of support was superficial.

“Now the people know who Snowdan really is,” Ibi added.

Ibi thanked the police for maintaining peace and order.

Last Sunday, Bukittunggal revealed YB Mong’s Authorization Letter to one Khoo Chee Peng to develop about 70,000 acres of NCR Land at Bukit Bengunan for Oil Palm plantation, and how in the letter he asked for RM1000 per acre as kickback.

Today, I am going to reveal to the world the condition of the long house name Kpg Gayau, one of the many Iban long houses under YB Snowdan Lawan and YB Masir Kujat.

The main reason why I am posting the photos of Kampong Gayau, Pantu is not to humiliated the long house chief TR Medang and his “anembiaks” (people) but my main reason is to reveal to the world on the real meaning of Barisan Nasional Sarawaks’ Politics of Development.

With the state election just around the corner, we could read almost everyday in the newspapers how the “Wakil Rakyat” (people representative) from Barisan Nasional urging the long house folks to vote for them as according to them only Barisan Nasional could bring development to their long houses.

Kampong Gayau the object for my posting today is located in upper Pantu. Politically it is under N25-Balai Ringin and P202-Sri Aman. Ringin. Their “Wakil Rakyat” are YB Snowdan Lawan and YB Masir Kujat, both are from the Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) one BN Sarawak component party.

Kampong Gayau is inhabited by about 80 families. It has no electricity and the source of drinking water is a gravity-feed fresh water supply from the stream nearby. Their mean of transport is by river or land.

Politically the long house has been supporting the BN for generations.

They live in fear that if they do not continue support Barisan Nasional, they will never get to see the promised of bring clean pipe water, electricity and basic infrastructure development to their kampong, let alone bringing themselves out of poverty. Instead Barisan Nasionals’ Politics of Development has went on, not only to deprive the villagers (poor Dayaks) of their NCR Land, but went on to enrich the leaders and finance their lavish lifestyles!

Let me share the condition of the long house here … see for yourself the real meaning of Barisan Nasional Politics of Development..

Sarawak Pakatan Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Wanita Vice Chairlady Voon Sia Nie refuted to YB Snowdan Lawan’s statement on the frontpage of New Sarawak Tribune’s on July 26th (yesterday) comparing the opposition’s tactic of the CCOs (communist guerrillas).

“We are not like communist and we are not thieves,” she said adding that “it is not a very fair statement” and asked Snowdan to clarify what does he meant by that statement.

“What is wrong about us coming to the longhouse at night, it a democratic country, we are not “thieves” stealing, we are just campaigning as the State election is near,” said Voon, venting her anger through a telephone interview yesterday.

“That type of statement is not very good and I want to ask him (Snowdan) what is the different when he (Snowdan) went to the longhouses to campaign..nobody is stopping him so what is wrong with us doing it.”

“I believed that this also shows we (PR) are putting out a creditable candidate (Ibi Uding) who is the Sarawak PKR wanita chief and that is why the challenge was thrown directly by Snowdan, indicates that Barisan Nasional (BN) is running scared of our candidate.”

“Wait and see the next State election, PKR central had identified Ibi as one of the potential candidate (in N.25 Balai Ringin) according to the quota for Pakatan Rakyat (PR),” she adding that Ibi is presently concentrating on the fight (campaigning). = Sarawak Tribune
