He should be voted out as soon as possible. We have not seen how much he has done for the good of his own community especially in recent times. But in the past three months, we have read in the main stream media, how he intimidate and blackmail the Dayak Community to continue supporting his UMNO-Barisan Nasional who have done little, except to enrich those who walk in the corridors of power.

Bidayuhs are no loss to Barisan Nasional if they decide to go for the opposition. This was the warning issued by a Sarawak Cabinet minister to the state’s second largest indigenous population.

Than what are Bidayuh’s waiting for? Just walk out. Resign from PBB, SUPP and SPDP and join the Pakatan fold. To the voters, get ready to show Manyin the broom if he ever step foot to campaign.

According to Infrastructure Development and Communications Minister Micheal Manyin, the loss of the six state and three parliamentary seats held by Bidayuhs would not affect BN in any way.

“Even if the BN loses all the six (Bidayuh) seats in the coming state elections, it will not affect the party because there are 71 state constituencies. These seats are not vital for BN to retain its power,” he said.

There are some 160,000 Sarawakian Bidayuhs living predominantly in the Lundu, Bau, Penrissenin Padawan, Siburan and Serian.

Manying’s stinging warning to the community was capped with the threat of ‘no development’ in these constituencies if BN loses.

“If Bidayuhs don’t support BN and the coalition loses the seats, then the whole community will lose out on the development. BN will not continue its work here,” he told villagers at Kampung Taee near here over the weekend.

The money do not belong to UMNO-PBB-Barisan Nasional or Michael Manyin. If that is the case, than all Bidayuh’s should stop paying taxes to the government or even bother to contribute to KWSP. Join my “Non Tax Paying Citizens Club”. Why should you pay taxes that support leaders and ministers like Michael Manyin?

He also urged the villagers not to be conned into believing tales spun by the opposition, especially the PKR.

He said PKR had been against the government’s move to carry out perimeter survey on Native Customary Rights (NCR) lands.

It is PBB-PRS-Sarawak Barisan Nasional who are against. For umpteen years, SNAP and Dayak NGOs have made calls to the authorities to have all NCR Land Surveyed. It is only after the recent visit to Long Lama by PM Najib that RM20 million was allocated to PBB-PRS-Sarawak Barisan Nasional to survey the NCR Land. With that, every-one starts talking and Alfred Jabu quickly added that only “Matured NCR Land” will be surveyed!

Can Michael Manyin now tell us what is “Matured NCR Land”?

Knowing that it is a stupid statement and he will be cornered with more controversy and that all NCR Lands are “Matured”, Deputy Thief Minister quickly followed through with only “NCR Land with Development Potential” will be surveyed.

Can Michael Manyin now explain what is classified as “Potential”.

Since the allocation of RM20 million which the State Government should have done umpteen years ago on their own initiative without waiting for allocation from PM Najib, a chorus of statements in the media have appeared and most are the usual intimidations and blackmail which people the likes of Michael Manyin are only good at.

Now what. Don’t come and tell me the press misquoted you! We know for a fact that they will not. Even if they are misquoted, it is because most of our Dayak Ministers can not even write a press statement of their own and pay thousands to media editors to write one for them.

All voters from the Dayak Community should be aware that, it is because of the imminent threat of losing power, that PM Najib and UMNO-PBB-Barisan Nasional extended the grant of RM20 million to acede to the request of leaders in SNAP, PBDS (among them Datuk Daniel Tajem, Lawyer Anthony Sujang) to survey NCR Land boundaries. It was never done on the initiative of our Ministers in PBB or Michael Manyin and his gang!

Manyin, who is also Tebedu assemblyman, alleged that PKR had insinuated that the perimeter survey on NCR land was being carried out for his personal benefit.

“We are carrying out perimeter survey on NCR land for the benefit of the people. How do I benefit from this exercise?

“If the people have land titles, they can then mortgage it and venture into businesses,” he said adding that he was aware that PKR was actively instigating the local Bidayuh communities into believing that BN was not serving them.

Looks like PM Najib do not believe Sarawak Barisan Nasional stories any longer!

From MOE, we were privy to some information that there is a long list of schools for construction in Rural Sarawak. Just stay tuned for who is awarded the contracts and to comfirm who the cronys are.

Will ADUN for N28 through is directorship in a 99.99% chinese owned construction company get something out of MOE this time around.

The ADUN for N28 Engkilili’s name was leased to this 99.99% chinese owned construction company to make it look like a Bumi Controlled company to secure projects and obtain credit from Banks and Suppliers.

Is the Federal Government, Treasury and MOE that stupid not to see through the scam!

PM Najib will show Sarawakians, and the Three Musketeers and their gang of thieves that “if there is a will there is a way”.

It does not take 47 years or even 5 years to implement any project.

How?

The team of technicians and surveyors from EPU and JKR, fresh from shooting the rapids at Kapit are now already in Miri and are laying the ground work for survey of the route for the RM100 million road linking Long Lama to Miri.

What say you Deputy Thief Minister Alfred Jabu? and Minister of Lying Portfolio Dato Silly James Masin? What did the two of you say about implementation of infrastructure and development projects promised in the Batang Ai Buy Election?

Certainly you do not want us to harp on it. Neither are we paid to remind you. However rest be assured that we will volunteer to remind the Rural Voters in Sarawak, what this blog entry means and what a Senior UMNO Executive just revealed to us?

We also further assure you that we are getting our contacts to whisper into the ears of PM Najib especially how useless most of you guys from Sarawak Barisan Nasional are besides offerring him a tip of two on how to preserve his Fixed Deposit.

10th Sarawak State Election. People's Power? Dayakism?

This is the question that many is asking, including the strategist in UMNO and Barisan Nasional in the Federal Capital.

My answer is if Pakatan Rakyat have done more in rural areas targetting the winnable seats there is a high chance of toppling Taib Mahmud’s regime in Sarawak and his Politics of Development which is nothing but a thin viel to camouflage “Politics of Bondage and Slavery”.

What more is there to do? The Ibans and Dayak community want something tangible to see. Merely creating awareness and harnessing support via the network of NGO will not do, in my opinion.

With the State Election around the corner which i speculate to be after the budget 2011 and implementation of some projects announced in the 10th Malaysia Plan in rural Sarawak, Pakatan Rakyat may have lost a better opportunity to topple Taib Mahmud’s regime in the immediate State Election. At best, Pakatan Rakyat can hope to make inroads and deny them the two thirds majority in the Dewan Undangan Negri Sarawak.

On the surface Sarawak seems ripe for political change. Despite being the richest state in terms of natural resources, it is ironically also the second poorest, a situation which speaks of endemic corruption and poor governance.

But capturing Sarawak is anything but straightforward. BN has held this state in an iron grip since it joined the Federation in 1963 through a coalition of native parties led by PBB. Taib Mahmud, the white-haired Rajah of Sarawak has ruled for 29 years. The tenacity of BN’s rule has been aided by misuse of state resources, tight control of the media, ethnic divide and rule and outright vote buying aided by the inaccessibility of its terrain and the abject poverty of the natives.

The importance of wresting control of Sarawak from BN goes beyond the state government. Sarawak has 31 parliamentary seats, a disproportionate number compared to its population and usually swept by BN at every general election. Capturing the state government will level the playing field for the coming battle in the general elections and will be a precursor to the capture of Federal power.

Coming from IP address 219.93.35.0 – 219.93.35.127 and 218.208.0.0 – 218.208.255.255, we hope the authorities have opened the files on Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud and investigate whatever is reported and not tracking blogs and news portal carrying news on alleged corruption of Sarawak State Government leaders.

Any attempt to surpress the truth via threats of legal action will not go down well Voters and impair the image of Najib’s Administration at Putra Jaya.

Abdul Taib Mahmud, the Automated Teller Machine of Sarawak Barisan Nasional. Come State Election, he will decide how he is going to bankroll the 71 Constituency and how much each candidate will be allocated depending on how safe the seat is. The higher the risk, the more he will allocate.

Over the past several days Sarawak Report has revealed a number of facts relating to the Taib Family’s vast foreign property investments. Our investigations have exposed a real estate portfolio worth hundreds of millions of US dollars in Canada, Australia and the United States and we have shown how they are owned and directed by Taib’s own brothers and children.

However, so far, the Chief Minister has failed to respond to our allegations or to answer two questions, ‘Where did the money come from?’ and ‘How much of this property does he beneficially own?’.

Indeed, the Chief Minister has made only one significant response to our well-documented exposes. This week he forbade all newspapers in Sarawak to publish news about the lavish riches enjoyed by himself and his family. Such an act merely shows the extent of his dilemma and his embarrassment. Clearly he cannot deny the Taib family ownership of the properties in question, because it is all documented in official registries in different countries, which are available on-line to the public. He has therefore only silence and suppression to turn to in order to hide his embarrassment.

This is a sign of weakness and failure in an old man. Surely he knows that everyone in Kuching is talking about his greed? Does he plan to ban all conversations including the phrases ”Chief Minister” and “unexplained wealth” in the same sentence?

Meanwhile, he continues to support the ill-treatment and attacks by logging companies and police against native peoples who are trying to protect their rightful lands from rapacious timber and plantation companies. He is doing this even though the Malaysian Federal Courts have upheld that ownership of Native Customary Rights Lands cannot be removed by the State.

Why does Taib Mahmud always support the actions of the timber companies against his people? Could it be because they are paying him in kickbacks and that this is how the Taib family afford their International Property Empire? He needs to reassure the world that this is not the case, but it seems he cannot.

Again Abdul Taib Mahmud needs to explain how he and his family came by their riches and he must reveal just how much of the Taib family property empire is owned and directly controlled by him.

Baru Bian – PKR Sarawak State Chief

if only the people can dare to hope, then the power of change is in their hands. They can save their future and the future of their children, but they must have the courage to act. They must vote out their oppressors at the coming election and they must not succumb to petty bribes. We in the opposition are not offering just a few ringits the night before the election, instead we are offering rich rewards after the election to those who have given us their trust.”…. Baru Bian

Mr Baru Bian, Sarawak’s top native rights lawyer, explained the measures that he will bring through immediately to reform Sarawak for its people. His key pledges are to:

  • End corruption and bring back honest government
  • Give back land taken illegally from native people
  • Fight for a fair share of Sarawak’s oil revenues
  • Save Sarawak’s environment by ending logging of virgin forest and oil palm
  • Stop the dam programme and the displacement of people from their lands.
  • Kick-start rural development with roads, water and electricity a priority
  • Improve schools and medical care in the rural areas
  • Taib was kept away
In the last Sibu by-election, Taib was advised not to campaign in Sibu town because the urban population is dead against Taib. His presence in Sibu town may resulted in BN losing more vote from Sibu town. What does this say: this mean that Taib is recognised as a political liability in urban areas of Sarawak.

Taib has overstayed his welcome. He has enrich his family, siblings and close family members.

Sarawak wealth is well milked for family, cronies and supporters
There is not a single state in Malaysia that is a corrupted as in Sarawak. For an ordinary Sarawakian, it is almost impossible to get land application approval for oil palm plantation and small holding. The land is ONLY given to certain people that Taib’s favor.

The same with forest license, everything goes to a proxy comapny or to those that give kickback both for personal or political purposes.

We Sarawakian knows it. The BN supporters wanted it this way because they want a simple way ofmaking money. This is done even at the expense of the hardship of rural people in Sarawak.

    Conclusion
NO! We do not want Taib anymore. Please GO AWAY from the political leadership. We have enough of TAIB and he is rotten to the core.

The Opposition would not have been very passionate about wanting a change in Government should Taib give way to younger leaders to lead the State. we feel cheated and betrayed by his action of high “corruption rate” and “misdirected” development fund.

Taib, please GO AWAY. 30 years is a long time. It is more then 2 generation of Sarawakian under your rule.

Post Taib Mahmud era in Sarawak, will the Ibans and Voters in Rural Sarawak ask this question?

    Don’t live to regret.

When the opportunity is presented take it and don’t look back.

Be proud that you have made that decision for your future generations and that you were there to join hands with Pakatan Rakyat to Save Sarawak and Save Malaysia from further destruction and looting.

“[Mahathir Mohamad has] … created a legacy so monumental that no one could have presumed his mantle.”

  • because under Sarawak’s Barisan Nasional Politics of Development, we have cleverly made them politically bonded to us via promise of anticipated development which as you know may take more than a century to implement and complete.
  • example, the road in Kapit which took 47 years to implement despite it being the strong hold of Temenggong Jugah since the formation of Malaysia in 1963.
  • they will still continue to vote for us as they simply love being bonded to us, especially in areas where there are Iban predominant voters.
  • Bumiputera will still strongly support the Barisan Nasional in the next state election which must be held before May next year, Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud said today.

The result of the May 16 Sibu by-election showed that the community’s support for the BN had increased, he said when launching the “Sejiwa Senada Government With The People” programme at SK Perbandaran 3 here.

The programme, highlighting the role and function of government departments and agencies, is the first of a series to be held statewide this year.

Its basic aim is to improve the government administration delivery system in line with Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s Government Transformation Programme.

Taib said he was confident the Bumiputera would continue to support the government because they believed in organised efforts and good clear policies in struggling for their betterment.

“The Bumiputera are humble. They know they are poor and in difficulty. So they place high hopes on the government to help them out.”

He said that in the by-election, although there were people from outside trying to undermine their confidence in the government, the Malays, Ibans, Melanaus and others had been “humble enough to recognise that they still depend on a working government for their fate”.

No Prize for guessing correctly who in Sarawak destroyed Swiftlet Houses in Mukah! And who was against it only to use SEDC to go into a partnership with a Malayan company to develop swiftlet farming in the name of protecting public health and enviroment.

The thriving swiftlet farming industry is set to help the nation realise the New Economic Model (NEM) goals, especially in creating a high income society.

The bird nest export that fetches RM1.5 billion in annual revenue is a big contributer for the nation’s economy, and it is one of the trades that provide quick returns.

Moreover, the capital outlay is relatively small and the returns can be realised within a short period.

Swiftlet farming involves an initial capital between RM10,000 and RM30,000 to set up a bird house on a 10 feet by 15 feet site, minus the cost of purchasing or leasing the site.

If the investors think of joining the ranks of the big players in the industry, than the initial investment can be anything between RM250,000 and RM600,000.

    LOAN FUND
In states like Melaka, Penang and Sarawak, shoplots have been modified into ‘bird house’ to get a slice of this lucrative industry.

The bird’s nest soup is highly nutrious and said to contain elements that contribute to the “fountain of youth”. It is also said to improve blood circulation and in mainland China its consumption is linked with one’s status in the society.

It is also a delight savoured by the elites in the Arab world.

Realising the bird nest industry’s potential to the economy, the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry through Agrobank has set aside RM67.7 million to finance swiftlet farming.

Agrobank’s Managing Director Datuk Ahmad Said noted that the move is in line with the government’s effort to boost up the people’s annual income from AS$7,000 to AS$15,000 as underscored by the NEM.

SEKING THE PARTICIPATION OF ALL RACES
Ahmad noted that the special fund will enable at least 2,000 potential entrepreneurs to venture into small scale swiftlet farming costing between RM10,000 and RM30,000 while enjoying an interest rate that is as low as 3.75 percent.

Industry observers note that the loan from Agrobank will allow entrepreneurs from all races to participate in the trade that is currently being monopolied by Chinese entrepreneurs.

Ahmad pointed out that the raw bird nest could fetch between RM3,000-RM4,000 per kg and the processed ones can go up to RM12,000 and the high prices is helping the industry to thrive.

It is reported that at present there is about 50,000 swiftlet farms all over the nation.

In enticing the poor to participate in the trade, the government also launched a grant worth RM5 million to enable 500 poor familes to undertake swiftlet farming.

1GP TAKEN TO THE MINISTRY LEVEL
Under the grant, selected families (those earning below RM450 a month) will be provided a bird house worth RM10,000 that is to supplement the family’s income.

In a media report dated 11 Feb 2010, the Veterinary Services Director General Datuk Dr Abdul Aziz Jamaluddin stated that the department would identify the poor families to be enlisted in swiftlet farming.

However, the lucrative industry that started with the migration of the swiftlets from Indonesia over the last 10 years is yet to settle the regulatory issues.

The 1GP guideline for swiftlet farming set by the Veterinary Services Department is yet to reach the cabinet for approval.

The Agriculture and Agrobased Industries Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar had previously stated that the 1GP that would serve as the standard for the industry had been finalised by the ministry’s officials and would be brought to the minister’s attention.

    MAINTAIN THE PRODUCER’S STATUS
Apart from the Agriculture and Agrobased Industries Ministry, swiflet farming also involves three other ministries – Health Ministry, Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, and the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

What is certain, like what the industry players hope, 1GP will be implemented immediately to address issues relating to establishing bird houses within city limits that contributes to odour, noise and risk of diseases.

Apart from maintaining the status as the leading producer of the bird’s nest in Southeast Asia, the fund and guideline will help propel Malaysia into the forefront of the trade in less than 10 years time.

At present, the main market for the bird’s nest is China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore with Malaysia earning a reputation as the producer of good quality bird nests after Indonesia and Thailand. — BERNAMA
